Santa Cruz is the administrative centre of the Canary Islands. It is a very busy city and a major shipping port. Its enormous harbour is one of the busiest in Spain and one of the deepest natural harbours in the world. Every type of ship visits Santa Cruz and it is a major refit /repair port. Santa Cruz also is a main port for cruise ships for the canary Islands, West Africa and the Med.

The city lies at the juncture of the natural bay and the fabulous Anagna mountains an ideal base for the adventurous wishing to explore the off road Tenerife.
